Education

I graduated from New Ulm High School in New Ulm, MN in 1986.

I graduated from Bemidji State University in Bemidji, MN in 1991.

I have taken many credits since then in various topics from various colleges but have never received my masters.

Experience
I finished college in the middle of 1991 and so I sub taught for half a year. I, then, accepted a 4th grade position in Tonopah, NV in the 1991 to 1992 schoool year. I hated it. I promptly left after that year was done.... little did I know I would be back. After that I went back to New Ulm where I worked at a hardware store and substituted. It was a long 2 and half years. I, eventually, recieved a call in November of 1994 asking me if I wanted a job back in Tonopah.  I came back in January of 2005. It was for a Pre-school early childhood teacher. By this time, I wanted any teaching job and was willing to give Tonopah another try. I taught in that position for 2 and a half years. Next, I took a position of teaching kindergarten in the morning and 5th graders in the afternoon. It was quite the ride. I believe I did that for 2 years. I, at last,  received a fulltime position teaching 5th graders and have loved it ever since.

Bio

Growing Up

I was born the youngest of 4 children in 1967. I grew up in an average town of 15,000 called New Ulm in Minnesota. I was a pretty good student who was involved in drama, FHA, bowling, peer tutoring and peer counciling. My family was lower middle class, as my parents were both factory workers and I had to work part time most of high school. At the age of 12, I, also, started helping raise my 2 nieces and nephew so that their parents could work. Some of my fondest memories is that of our yearly family vacations which my parents saved up for. Usually to a cabin on a lake somewhere, but these really did not start until I was 7. I grew up in a very fun loving family, who are football fanatics and love to play board  and card games.

College

I was involved in campus life to it's fullest extent. I was a dorm RA, was on a student council and worked at the campus library on a work study program. In college I became a born-again christian. I was involved in Lutheran Campus Ministries and Campus Crusade for Christ. I even went on a few mission trips to Daytona Beach and Chicago. Life in college was a blast!!!

The real world

I finished college in the middle of 1991 and so I sub taught for half a year. I, then, accepted a 4th grade position in Tonopah, NV in the 1991 to 1992 schoool year. I hated it. I promptly left after that year was done.... little did I know I would be back. After that I went back to New Ulm where I worked at a hardware store and substituted. It was a long 2 and half years. In that time I also went for a 7 week intensive course on being a youth group leader. ( which came in handy later on) It was amazing. I,eventually, received a call in November of 1994 asking me if I wanted a job back in Tonopah.  I came back in January of 2005. It was for a Pre-school early childhood teacher. By this time I wanted any teaching job and was willing to give Tonopah another try. I taught in that position for 2 and a half years.Next, I took the position of teaching kindergarten in the morning and 5th graders in the afternoon. It was quite the ride. I believe I did that for 2 years. I, at last,  received a fulltime position teaching 5th graders and have loved it ever since. By the way, I really love Tonopah, now, too. In my social life, I have been a member of the 1st Baptist church since 1991, I helped run their youth program for 8 years until 2003. I have been involved in choir and Bible studies this whole time too. I am also a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Delta Kappa Gamma, and Reading Association holding various offices in all of them through out the years.

Family Life

I lived a pretty good single life for most of this time, then in Spring of 2001, I met the man of my dreams and the answer to many prayers. That is when I met my husband Kalin Gillard. We met in church. We got married in November of 2001, bought a house in August of 2002 and had our first baby by April of 2003. His name is Isaiah. He is an amazing creation and so very funny. I adore him. In March of 2005, I had the little girl that I always wanted. Her name is Elizabeth. She is just pure sunshine with a little bit of feistiness. We have not looked back since and though life is not always easy with aging and ill parents etc......My life is BLESSED!!!!
